Avianna
When SPIN launched the ABA classroom in September 2024, Avianna was one of the original children enrolled in the pilot program. At that time, she demonstrated limited functional communication skills, did not interact with her peers and an aversion to eating meals at the lunch table. With consistent support from her BCBA and her classroom BHTs, Avianna began to make meaningful progress. She showed increased engagement in dramatic play and demonstrated growing participation during group activities.
In February 2025, Avianna began spending time in a PHLpreK classroom as part of an inclusion opportunity, initially attending for 30-minutes a day a few times a month. As her confidence and skills continued to grow, her time in inclusion gradually increased. By January 2026, Avianna successfully completed a full transition into the general education classroom. Now in Ms. Emily’s room, Avianna is initiating play with her peers and has formed meaningful bonds with teachers and friends. She is demonstrating a notable expansion in spontaneous language skills, including expressing her feelings and needs. Avianna is now joining in small and large group activities, and has blossomed in the last several months. Her progress reflects both her hard work and the collaborative support of members of both the BHAS and Children’s Services team!
