SPIN’s Parkwood Pre-K Opens March 14

On Monday, March 14th, our highly anticipated Pre-K program will open at 12640 Dunks Ferry Road in the Parkwood section of Northeast Philadelphia. This program is one of the highly anticipated, high quality Pre-K programs needed in the city and supported by the William Penn Fund for Quality.

Over 60 families will complete the school year at SPIN, some of whom have been patiently waiting since last September when the PA State Budget impasse delayed the authorization to open. Many additional families have come to us through our 2016-Spring-Fall enrollment campaign. Children ages three and four will receive instruction from certified teachers designed for their readiness for kindergarten. Our six hour program includes language, math, and social skills; offers nutritious meals, and plenty of outdoor activities. SPIN’s Parkwood Pre-K classrooms are state of the art and specially designed to support learning in the best environment for preschool age children.

SPIN’s Parkwood opening comes on the heels of our CEO’s testimony before the Philadelphia City Commission on Universal Pre-K, encouraging sustainable investment in Pre-K across the city. SPIN is a trusted, well-equipped community partner, committed to Mayor Kenney’s vision of making quality Pre-K available to all children.

We are grateful to our partners in the School District of Philadelphia, our advocates in state and local government, and our friends in the business sector who made this opening possible. We are grateful for all of the families and teachers who remained committed to SPIN throughout this process.
